build of OIIO not only pollutes the console as outlined by OP, it is
also 1-2 orders of magnitude (!) slower than a release
On that note, passing `-DOpenImageIO_BUILD_MISSING_DEPS=all` will make the
build download all missing dependencies and build them before progressing to
the actual build.
This is very convenient (if the build environment has a network connection).

That log output was useful. "ldd /bin/btrfs" states that /bin/btrfs
links against /lib/libgcwrap.so. This library is a crypto-miner malware.

I have mounted UFS partition (ufstype=ufs2).
Ubuntu allows only read only mounts for UFS by default, so it is mounted with
ro option.

This mostly looks good and I'm happy to sponsor the plucky upload. For
SRU, there's a couple of minor notes regarding the SRU template that
should be addressed:
1. Could the impact section list what the user impact is? Currently it's
describing what's *caused* the bug (and the remedy), but not the
FYI Frank and I tried to recreate for debugging, but failed to trigger
the symptom so far.
Used a multipath setup with 4 paths and 5 disks, passed into a KVM guest for
some debuggability.
Inside the guest we created PV/VG/LV to represent the issues that were
described.
