The issue was due to an EFI partition not being on the hard drive. I
was able to correct by creating a FAT32 partition (flag boot) and then
selecting as an efi partition during the install process.

I had the Kubuntu 20.10 installer on a USB stick, and was attempting to
install Kubuntu to the SSD in my Dell Inspirion 7370 laptop. During the
install, the USB stick was assigned /dev/sda, and the SSD /dev/sdb.
I observed the installer incorrectly mounts the USB stick EFI pa
This problem is unaddressed on two computers after upgrading to Ubuntu 20.10.
Now I can using the GUI set up a custom keyboard shortcut associated witth the
"search" key, but it still does nothing. Pressing the "search" key just gives
me the desktop search.
