This is my temporary fix for the issue:
1. I pasted the output from the touchpad-edge-detector to the file:
/lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb
And uncommented whole default Lenovo Thinkpad T490 option (not sure it is
necessary)
2. Applied the changes using:
sudo systemd-hwdb update
sudo udevadm tr
The warning messages occurred between "ACPI: EC: interrupt blocked" and
"ACPI: EC: interrupt unblocked". Let's try to apply all (17) mainline
patches to ACPI EC to Ubuntu-5.4.0-47.51.
If this solves the problems we can then bi-select to identify which
patches are the solution and then backport to

Thanks! Soon after installing Ubuntu, I had disabled the updates (by
setting it to use only security updates, see attachment picture).
I did not know that changing that would change my system sources.
I changed it back to `All updates` and now I was able to install

I have tested LibreOffice for a while.
It did cause Xorg memory explosion again as explained below.
I am excerpting my own personal notes here, please bear with the rough form of

Thanks for the bug report. This looks like an assertion failure in
libst-1.0.so but retracing has failed so we can't see exactly what
happened.
Next time the problem happens, please:
1. Wait at least 5 seconds and then reboot.
2. Run this command in a terminal:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
In those releases the marble wallpaper/clock was not buildable (not
ported). Trusty and Xenial are also end of life for Kubuntu support.
