caught the same issue with chromium-browser. This is on 20.04, according
to `apt policy` the changes are

I assume the device in question is the 'SYNAPTICS Synaptics Large Touch

X230s (I think).

The update-resolv-conf script as shipped in the current 20.04 package
(2.4.7-1ubuntu2) tries to invoke the no-longer-existing resolvconf
binary. It seems it should use the new resolvectl instead.

Same issue here. Ubuntu 20.04 fully updated running on a Dell Latitude
5590. Started after VPN connection over wifi. It works ok sometime and
then VPN and network stopped working in this case. Changing to cabled
connection just in case meanwhile the issue gets solved.

Just saw this on 5.3.0-62-generic on 18.04. When this happens, kernel
gets a stack trace on BUG. The problem is not in nfs-utils, but a new
bug in kernel, likely exactly kernel version 5.3.0-62-generic, since
this popped up right after kernel update.
