The login screen runs as a different user, not as "user 1" or "user 2",
so it can only display world-readable image files.
I wonder if you also need to:
chmod 755 ~/Pictures
to make the directory readable too.

It was just my guess what can be wrong if plugin installation goes wrong
after removing python2 support in Ubuntu, based on my experience with
python2 removal in Fedora.

IMO this issue is different from what you mentioned, unless disabling
the requirement is an outcome
/sys/module/g_ether/parameters/use_eem is not visible because the driver
doesn't make it available to sysfs. That might be by design or a defect
but it doesn't really matter here. EEM support is built-in and can be
turned on by loading the driver with 'modprobe g_ether use_eem=1'.

Noch change. And I again noticed that after switching the user sessions
I land on the command line without a desktop. But this is what
described in another bug. This whole user session switching is not
stable on Kubuntu/AMD.

Thanks for the info! Another question in this case: since this bugfix is
verified, does this mean the packages currently in -proposed are good to
be released? I wouldn't want to release a package that isn't 'ready' by
accident.
