I've tested this with 4.15, 5.0, 5.3 and 5.4 kernels on bionic, eoan and
focal and I'm getting the same results, always a failure. I've not got
it to work at all on 4.15.0 so far. I'm not sure why this is.
Can you run this on a 4.15 based system and gather the output from bash

During daily usage I guess so. Or the icon in the panel even more. But
when a user configures the system for the first time, it is not a very
encouraging first impression of a distro when the settings configuration

So, my fault: It IS actually a kernel issue. I didn't install linux-
modules-extra-4.15.0-96-generic package when trying out Ubuntu 18.04
stock kernel on Ubuntu 20.04. After installing this package hcitool

Patchage has recently been removed from Focal. As this package is
critical to the workflow of many Ubuntu Studio users, I have contacted
upstream to get it to build again, which took only one day to fix.

Screen sharing can not be enabled from the Gnome Control Ce
do_install() here is to *upgrade* the installed package to the jump-off
version in the OEM archive. Note this code is only run if the
target_sources_list exists - which means that the oem metapackage *is*
already installed (happens via scripts/simple-plugins). So that means
two things:

or remotely via xrdp.
Running that command, as root, after the user (skunk) has logged in via
lightdm:

session terminates before the desktop is even drawn on the screen.
