When nvidia-driver-435 is not installed, I can get to a console login
prompt from the login screen by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 through 6. But when
nvidia-driver-435 is installed and I press any of those, I get to a

time

although, I'd say that bumping the soname in a 'stable update series'
(which 19.3.x appears to be from the outside) doesn't look sensible,
19.4/20.0 would be more suitable imo but up to you

"the microphone doesn't seem to work or be recognized", do you mean the
internal mic? it is not recognized? I checked the log in the #1, the
internal mic is defined, you should be able to see/find the internal mic
from the gnome-control-center sound-setting.
