That certainly looks HDR related. But if Ubuntu is to be able to use HDR
then gnome-shell/mutter first should enable use of a deep colour
framebuffer. Actually, for me, that's the only part I care about :) Can
anyone confirm what the minimum Intel GPU required is for 10-bpc?

I would also argue that in those days, Ubuntu is installable from a USB
thumb drive as well, not just from a CD/DVD as in the good ol' days,
which makes the whole string wrong, even the title.
So, I propose this:

We have configured PulseAudio in Ubuntu to prefer newly plugged in audio
devices, which up until 19.04 was uncontroversial. The bug here is that
the new version of PulseAudio thinks logging in with an HDMI/DisplayPort
monitor already attached counts as newly plugged-in.

I want to call attention to this recent merge into master here:

This allows both light and dark shell themes to be selectable in gnome-
tweaks. I am not sure if this can be put into the 19.10 release.

Can you please try logging into "Ubuntu" instead of "Ubuntu on Wayland"?
The former will give you a Xorg session so that keyboard events are
primarily handled in a different process to gnome-shell. It might
help...
