My impression was that smart card readers are pretty common and it is
the smartcards that keep changing. So USB access to the smart card
devices class should be enough there.
Being able to add custom/newer pkcs smartcard support modules sounds
like a good idea.

With LP: #1821376 unattended-upgrades started listing packages by
origin, listing each package in the origin where the highest version
resides, but this hides the information, that the installed package
could be upgraded to a lower version which may contain only security
fixes
OK so probably when I upgraded the latest (current) 19.04 kernel was not
out yet, as I updated my system to latest packages available for 19.04
before upgrading to 19.10. If current kernel has a fix, it should be
good now.
