So this "fix" seems to cause Kernels released with zesty (and newer)
keep the monitor always ON. No blanking, and no power down either.
Before this fix, a clean install of Ubuntu server would signal the
monitor to sleep/standby after a short while. Now the default behavior
is to leave the monitor

That's correct. It was fixed in 2.0.0, but I'm not sure the fix would

Unable to get system speakers working running 19.04. At max volume,
sound is barely perceptible through headphones. Pavucontrol shows
sounds is present, but no amount of adjustments makes a difference.

Hello,
After upgrading to Cosmic Cuttlefish yesterday when I came to reboot gdm
seemingly was unable to start. There was not much in the logs, and after
much tinkering I discovered that after the Ubuntu splash screen if I
pressed Alt + F{N>1} then pressed Alt+F1 gdm would imm
I also have this issue, but I discovered if I pressed Alt+F{N>2} then
Alt+F1 gdm boots immediatly.
I opemed a bug here,
