I'm trying out the kubuntu Disco beta. I have 4k displays, so I went
into the KDE System Settings and changed my screen scaling value to 1.4.
After doing this, all of the fonts in all of the LibreOffice
applications looked really bad, to the point of being nearly unreadab

seems to get around the issue.

It looks like the fix went into systemd version 240, so it should be
fixed in Ubuntu 19.04 now if you update your system...

Yes, unfortunately that is also my experience...
The Windows 10 kernel renders the screen differently to the Linux
kernel. So some hardware problems manifest only in Linux and not in
Windows. I guess that suggests the i915 Linux kernel driver could do
better in signal error handling, like Windows.

The attached patch changes the template loading to be synchronous.
I didn't notice any side-effect, with hundreds of files in ~/Templates the
context menu appears without any delay.
