instantly. But for good, I found a workaround. If you try to type

When saving files as jpg, there is an option for compression there. And
a level selector slider line.
Get there by clicking save button on simple-scan after scanning. Then

I was able to reproduce this issue with am-utils
6.2+rc20110530-3.2ubuntu2 on Ubuntu Disco, which prints the same error
messages. I also found a corresponding bug report in Debian so I have
attached a bug watch.
