Just to confirm I am still seeing this in 18.10. A few more details:
If I open Software & Updates and switch to the Other Software tab and click one
of the checkboxes the window loses focus but the authentication dialog does not
appear (I have checked it is not under another window). If however
I don't know what specific package, installed or missing, is responsible
for the missing GUI in the laptop, so I can't specify this information.
(Presumably, if I new which package was to blame, I wouldn't be having
this issue for over a week now.)

This option is ambiguous as it may lead users to believe they need to
sign in to interact with snaps.
The sign in should either lead to clearly defined activity (e.g.

I'm not sure if it's related, but graphic games under dosbox, such as
Scorched Earth, fail to capture the mouse in Ubuntu 18.10. They work
fine(mouse is captured/functional) in Ubuntu 18.04*.

I tested the proposed vmtools in a vsphere in general, but as outlined in the
testing section it is hard.
I wasn't able to trigger the bug before the upgrade - so not seeing it after

On Ubuntu MATE 18.10, I get thumbnails for cbz (renamed zip archives)
but not cbr (renamed rar archives). When trying to open a cbr with
Atril, I get an error message saying that the RAR archive
(application/vnd.rar) filetype is not supported. It opens cbz files just

I was told that this wasn't necessary, since they do not run on the
user's premises and they are not the driver for the SRU. They were added
to help regression-test the bug.
