the update+upgrade installed the new snapd (2.35.2+18.10) over (2.35.1+18.10)
and now i have all the default snap working

I'm marking this as also affecting me using Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox 62.
I don't ever see this problem with either Chrome or Chromium 69. Will
look for upstream reports and link to anything relevant that I find
later as bugzilla.mozilla.org horrendously slow at present.

I found out what triggers this issue!
This happens when I restart (by killing it) unity-settings-daemon as a
workaround to infamous bug 1731294.
And now I see that there is a workaround to the workaround.
After killing unity-settings-daemon (which restarts automatically),
which leaves Nautilus a
