The point of this bug report is that the fix to LP#1672464 removed a
binary package name from xenial - this is like changing an API contract.
But xenial has long since shipped with this breakage, so this report can
be ignored.

binoic w/ -proposed enabled (after hacking DistUpgradeController.py) and
there were no issues.

point release of 14.04 is 14.04.5. Please try installing from that
version of the installat
The information I provided is taken from a VM upon logging in after
initial boot. I provided my chrony.conf as attachment precisely to head
off the question about custom config.
The logs were not clear on why chrony is not starting cleanly.
Regardless, attempts to call chronyc by the NM dispatcher
I built a test kernel[1] (3.13.0-153.203+hf185584v20180706b4)on my PPA
containing the 3 fixes as suggested by the VMware author[2].
If you are affected by this problem, feel free to use it for testing and
update this bug with any feedbacks.
