I've been exercising the -proposed kernel all day on amd64 using stress-
ng memory tests without any observed regressions.
Benchmark comparisons between the current -proposed kernel and the
previous xenial kernel show that:

Xorg crashed
Thanks. You are correct. This is just playing with packaging; the source
is unchanged. I was thinking the same about not needing an FFe, but I
filed one anyway. If nothing else, it can provide clarity for anyone who
may have wondered why the split occurred.

This line certainly looks suspicious:

The libvirt-bin package from the ci-train ppa didn't fix my other
problem (bug #1756981). libvirt-bin again changed pids after the virt-
manager "crash".
grep libvirt /var/log/syslog shows when the version from the ppa segfaulted:

Also reproducible in xterm and various other terminal emulators, at
least sometimes (not always). So not a gnome-terminal issue.
This is a pretty common phenomenon if a utility doesn't properly restore
the terminal (stty?) settings. Blindly typing and executing "reset"
should fix it. Not sure what
