Xenial currently does not have this package at all. There is no way we
can introduce this package into Xenial post release.
I can however set up a PPA you can use to get the package, or you can
pretty safely install if from Ubuntu 17.04 or 17.10, those packages
should work in Xenial as well.

I just run on another use case for this:
A kernel upgrade made gnome unable to start, apport-collect needs to have a
confirmation from a browser but since I can't start a normal desktop, I can't
send the report.
The workaround using w3m may work but than after that I need to set back to
firefox

I can confirm: VMs with more than one disk still crash with out of
memory. We're using Hyper-V on Windows Server 2012 R2 with GEN2 VMs
(Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS/Xenial, Kernel 4.4.0-104-generic). VMs with just one
disk are running perfectly.

The DpkgHistoryLog.txt shows you installed MySQL Server 5.7, and then
MariaDB Server 10.1. This migration path is not supported. From Oracle
MySQL 5.7 you need to upgrade to MariaDB 10.2 or newer.
To solve this situation, you need to apt-get purge mysql-* mariadb-*,
possibly by hand also run rm -r

Having a second look I found the mitigation cleaning up the filename
with the help of: `tr --delete --complement '[:print:]`
So it is obvious that the characters breaking `find … -name` are non-
printable characters.
