I tried if I could use your gdb example to verify the issue which would then
serve as vreification on the SRU as well.
I don't need the gdb part to do so, but while going on I found that all works
find until this step:
$ make gunit_large
That was in artful, so that seems to be renamed
Added summarized steps to the description to be reusable in SRU templates later
on.
Open for Robie/Lars to be checked as a patch through all kind of extra
verifications they usually have.

I'm trying to check for filesystem errors on an external HDD. But I
don't find xfs_check. Maybe xfs_check and xfs_repair have been unified?
xfsprogs is installed
This is the error when I try to run it:
$sudo xfs_check /dev_sdb1
sudo: xfs_check: command not found
$xfs_check

Thanks for the clarification. Since there are two issues, we should
probably focus on one at a time. The test kernel posted in comment #36
sounds like it fixes the first issue, so lets handle that one first.
I'll ping the upstream patch author for that commit and get some
