I set all those to autostart and then shut them down.
Starting them sequentially as well as concurrently takes about ~20

I tried the steps you mentioned several times and eventually ended up with
a clean update.
The main reason for the update was two fold.
1. The /boot partition was full. I had to manually clear out old versions
of Linux to get enough space for the updates to complete. This
It appears the high CPU of gnome-shell with totem on Wayland at least is
due to the totem app window redrawing at 60Hz seemingly only on Wayland
(bug 1698282). When this happens, the compositor will have to upload
(copy) the window texture from CPU to GPU 60 times per second, which is
CPU-intensive

expecting is me to evaluate the diff in detal and prep a qemu SRU?

OK, I have now encountered a few reasons for totem stuttering...
1. Excessive/faulty tags parsing (only seen in Big Buck Bunny videos?).
Upstream has fixed the root cause:

Yes, those two commits didn't apply cleanly. However, I have resolved
the conflicts and the attached patches for those two commits apply on

everywhere, when the problem only is root certificates with MD5 self

AFAIK this is fixed in the upstream debian/control (at least on github,
didn't check the release tarball), so syncing with that might be a
better option.
