The sound theme was missing a dedicated sound for testing mono speakers.
We "fixed" this by symlinking to an existing sound which was deemed
suitable for testing. See LP:1703946
Once that package was installed the new sound still didn't play for some

The intent is to drop resolvconf from minimal.
This has been reported to Debian as a feature request a while ago.

Do you have your vpn configuration in network-manager so that all
traffic should go through it, or do you have "Use this connection only
for resources on its network" checked? That's in ipv4-settings->routes,
same under ipv6-settings.

Scilab 6 has a bug, it should be started with control terminal.
You can create desktop application launcher with this contents of Command field:
xterm -e /home/full_path_to_scilab-6.0.0/bin/scilab
(you can change xterm to your favorite editor).
