Grub should not need mdadm for grub-probe to work. Whenever I install
on raid, I never have the boot loader fail to install; just have to
remember to chroot in after and install mdadm before rebooting or the

No need to ask where to put grub if there's only one disk, but don't
forget, each disk may have an ESP, and if the installer's target is not
sda, then the question not only needs to be asked, but the installer
should use the provided input. It's another bug that this input is just
ignored.

Intalled using EUFI on a system with Window removed but EUFI partition
restored after previous non-EUFI install. Installation failed installing
grub.
Message indicated system would not be bootable.
Installation is to a 2TB drive with a 2DB EUFI partition from a USB
installer
Thank you Gerry for the 6.20 driver for Xenial! I gave a second life to
my mackbook 4,1 with LinuxMint 18.1 and found the 6.30 version unstable.
The opensource driver was limited to non-N speeds.
I searched a full week before finding this post, thanks again!
