I've just encountered this issue with Ubuntu 16.04 / avahi-daemon
0.6.32~rc+dfsg-1ubuntu2. I have an AirPort Time Capsule, however the
problem is the same - pinging Airport-Time-Capsule.local resolves to an

i dont understand why i the Joseph's kernel wont let me type (kernel is on, but
aint gonna work) anything :( it looks like the solution for me for, at least
temporal... :(

It happens during a new installation. I accepted UEFI mode.
Hardware : Celeron 2810 - 2GHz - 2 Go RAM.
2 Hard Disks :
- SSD 64Go
- mSATA 64Go
The machine starts normally with Win8 (preinstalled as unique OS).
Remark: the mouse and the keyboard are slow and difficult to use

So I got this issue fixed by installing the package bind9.
I tested several times, but dnsutils with bind9-host was not enough.
So I removed those two and installed bind9 instead.
Now I have a working dns.
