Yes, old versions of fwupd verified the contents of the .inf file, and
new ones do not. This was done to avoid subtle incompatibilities with
files submitted into Windows Update. If you want it to work with 16.04,
I think you can safely omit the .inf file in the cab file.

I realized that .xinputrc was corrupted due to the fact that im-config was
using an non official md5sum build!
For that reason, the bus couldn't sucessfully complete its initialization and
gvfs couldn't launch itself.

heh, after a few more sips of coffee and actually reading the manpage,
my 1.d.1 is obviously incorrect because CAP_ADMIN_READ is not a
capability. So in effect it's masking out the audit socket :)

Using the official MySQL didn't work either with VSFTPD. The undefined
symbols problem seems to be solved though.
I will file a bug against VSFTPD then since it appears they are not
related... though this used to work just fine in older versions of
Ubuntu.
