I'm using i8kutils on Dell XPS 9560 with a fresh installed Ubuntu
16.04.2 Kernel 4.8 and I managed to set it up and make it work, but it
was tricky.
One problem was that to make it work it was necessary to download the
package sources, compile and move the "smm" utility to /usr/local/bin as

As requested I downloaded the latest build and ran it from USB. After
selecting hybrid graphics in BIOS I booted up and was delighted to see
no mouse trails on the 2nd monitor!
I then rebooted back into 16.04 leaving hybrid graphics selected - no

Well, it was not a firmware update that fixed it. I'm on Qubes 4.2
right now and it still has the problem, Qubes is using Xfce 4.12 as
it's desktop manager, which I believe is Ubuntu based. Some update to
Ubuntu must have fixed the problem and it hasn't been rolled into the
Xfce version Qubes is

After installing g++-5 by
sudo apt install g++-5
the nvcc started to work again.

(introduced either with 1.16 or 1.18) and many improvements, mainly with
Perl.
ZZ has got the recent Apt version, but Dpkg has not been synced
recently; which should be good to get a b
Too bad that the tested patch for this high importance bug did not make
it into the Jan 23, 2017 Tomcat8 update for 14.04 LTS. Any idea when
the next one is coming out that may include this bug fix?

Christopher, I'm aware on how to change the status, as said, I'd wanted
to test 4.8 again to make sure it wasn't a coincidence. Finally also the
updated hwe-stack of 4.8 works as expected. Thanks for your work. This
bug was never invalid, 4.4 was always an issue which 4.8-hwe fixed.
