I haven't tested the patch for trusty, but I assume it would be similar

In addition, I tried following line from the ISO from the live-DVD):
efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sda -p 1 -w -L ubuntu
(from the site https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2223856) with the
result, that the computer froze.
My partitions are (from GParted):
/dev/sda1 - EFI system partition - File Sys
I have this problem even *without* `appmenu-qt5` installed. I did have
`appmenu-qt` installed, but removing it did *not* fix the problem. I'm
using MATE on Ubuntu 16.10.

I DID, however, fix this by uninstalling Unity. I could't say which
specific package, unfortunately, as I just picked large swathes of them.
I never liked Unity anyway.

My problem sounds like comment #20 exactly: with no SIM card (yet) and
a fresh mako image of stable/ubuntu-developer I have no DNS at all after
connecting to WIFI. Manual fudging of resolv.conf makes things work
again. I'll install the log viewer next...

I am seeing the exact same bug - highly annoying!!!
Everytime I edit and save a file via Komodo it crashes the file manager,
doesn't matter which file manager I use. Tried Caja, Nautilus, etc. The error
is the same as above:

No change using kernel 4.8 for the up & coming 16.04.2 release. Has
anyone tried installing the 16.10 network manager in 16.04? Can it be
done?
