I cannot add logs with apport-collect because the non-working kernel
does not get to a stage where this is possible.

I suspect that the regression is separate from the fix for this bug
since the fix only applies to automounts, but let's find out for sure. I
built 4.4.0-38 with the fix reverted. Please install the kernel at the
link below and see whether or not the regression is still present.
Thanks!

Shall we defer to 17.04 given the new upstream kernel target of 4.9? Or
shall we SRU those for 16.10?
As for xen, the FFE for 4.7 is in progress.

Public bug reported:
In the main menu of System Settings, the first options at the top of the page
are 'Flight Mode' and 'Rotation Lock'. I have seen temporarily an additional
blank space between these two after having made an update of one of the app
from the update menu in the same System Set
I don't know if my symptoms are different or not. After I resume, I am
able to enter my password to unlock but instead of going to a completely
black screen, I get a "This session is locked. You'll be redirected to
the unlock dialog automatically in a few seconds" screen.

The easiest way to do this is via the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX setting in
/etc/default/grub.
$ grep ^GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX= /etc/default/grub
