I'm seeing firefox crashes very often too (a couple of times each and
every day), though on an amd64 system with Mate desktop. I really don't
see any pattern and I also don't know whether running a Mate desktop is
related to these crashes or not.

With current yakkety cloud images (at least in Scalingstack), I often
run into this dependency cycle at boot:

Sorry, i made a mistake in my last comment. The side speakers are outputting
the front channel too! Thats why im not hearing the test tracks for the side
speakers at all.
So the soundcard is outputting the front stream on the side channel as well.
