I have the same problem with an Lenovo X1 Carbon 3 and Ultradock.
Upgrading the kernel to 4.6.5 mainline fixed it, although the laptop
refuses to suspend while attached to the dock.

I'm not sure if/how we solve this, unity8 wants to show the splash
screen as soon as it knows an app is being launched, so that there's an
immediate UI feedback to the user. When we get the first frame from the
client, we hide the splash screen. It works fine for native apps.

After recently upgrading to the latest version of the numix-gtk-theme
from the PPA I decided to switch to it, however up on doing so I
triggered this issue. When I switched back to Adwaita however the issue
went as well.
Now however, even after switching back to Adwaita, the issue still
persists.

The -31 Kernel from Stefan's PPA with the patch has been running stable
for 2 weeks and the previous version based on -29 for 3 weeks. So if
that patch will make its way into Ubuntu kernel via the 4.4.16 stable
series update, the bug can be closed from my side at that point

I have now also noticed that if I am to end the Nautilus process, then
my desktop background shows as it is meant to everywhere. But starting
Nautilus again makes the desktop grey again.

Compiling any source file that includes with clang 3.8 and
-std=c++11 -stdlib=libc++ results in a compile error.

I see the latest version of the Numix GTK Theme which is compatible with
GNOME 3.20 is now in the gnome3-staging PPA. Will it also be updated in
the main Ubuntu repositories too?
