I did another experiment.
I've remove ehternet cable, connected WiFi to my home router. Now I
could reboot as much as I want, WiFi worked, checkbox is visible and is
ON inside network manager widget.
BUT, later I disabled WiFi connection, attached etherne cable, rebooted
and that's it - wlan0 dev

I disagree that this is a duplicate. The hostname which is referred to
in the other ticket is not even used by the Bluetooth stack. So even if

duplicate bug #1609236 seems to be fixed. I can now switch back to
English in the screensaver lock screen. My version of unity is
7.4.0+16.04.20160715-0ubuntu1. It also no longer crashes when I press
"Ctl-Alt-Del".

Running this on VMWare and there are frequent internal errors occuring

I have the same problem with ccsm, don't know why the lowgfx profile
doesn't show but you can manually import it from /etc/compizconfig
/unity-lowgfx.ini.
