just another workaround I found out - when I plug in the headphones and
it is stuck (no sound) I will fix it by suspending - unsuspending the
laptop - and the sound works again.

on a windows 7 host.
The ubuntu guest, configured to use usb 3.0 xhci controller, now boots

I get a merge conflict applying your Yakkety debdiff. Looks like this
was fixed in Debian and auto-synced to Yakkety with exactly the same
change, so an upload to Yakkety is no longer needed.

Ignoring it will cause confusing import errors in incremental pulls for
Launchpad imports as well.
Incremental pulls rely on deltas against full texts recreated from bzr
data including PGP signatures. If even one byte in the full text is
incorrect, that causes incremental pulls to fail.
