SDT events are markers placed at important places in the binaries. When
they are probed and traced, they can give valuable information about the
userspace application. This feature aims to enable perf to probe/record

After doing some research I believe this is not a bug, but a
misunderstanding. With systemd in use in 16.04 saned is started only "on
demand", when a program calls for it.
The solution from the manpage I described above is actually realised
with the sane-utils package, the files are part of that p
When I backtrace it, it's spending a lot of time in
lzma_code () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblzma.so.5
and children. strace shows lots of I/O going on. So it
appears to be compression overhead.

The tests updated are executed when the package is moved to proposed,
there's nothing in this change visible to the user. Anyway...

Cannot run gnome-spl
As stated partway through the thread, after submitting the bug report
through the automated tool, I wiped the boot partition & performed a
clean install of 16.04, during which I did not select the option for 3rd
party drivers (which I had selected previously). The resulting

Create a xenial image and install maas. This appears to affect both
with the PPA and without.
Create a quick xenial image:
uvt-simplestreams-libvirt sync release=xenial arch=amd64
uvt-kvm create maas release=xenial
uvt-kvm wait maas
uvt-kvm ssh maas --insecure
Then in VM:
1 sudo apt update
