I checked Ubuntu Server 15.04 also and found that problem not only in
recovery but I should run setupcon after each reboot to get Cyrillic
letters readable. And for some reason 'setupcon --save' not saves it to
feature reboots.

It turned out to be an apparmor profile that restricted reading /dev.
Skype needs to be able to enumerate /dev to find a webcam.
Even though Skype is linked with gstreamer, it doesn't require
gstreamer1.0-plugins-good for accessing the webcam.

I wanted to say thank you to all and Pali, Hans, Dmitry and Kamal in
particular for creating and pushing the patches through. The patch has
landed in a recent trusty update with kernel 3.16.0-45-generic. The
situation is markedly better now, and no freeze anymore and dmesg unless

Found this problem installing 14.04-2 server from USB stick created with
Startup Disk Creator. Installer mounts /dev/sdxn (the USB stick
partition, in my case /dev/sdc1) to /media but the installer looks for
it at /cdrom. Above solution to remount at /cdrom worked for me too. H/W
is an ASRock C2550
