I've tried this now with binutils 2.24 from Trusty (which produced a
good build), and also the gold linker in Precise and I get the same
issue. So it looks like this is specific to the compiler.

debug output for unity8 and turns out the above you registers a device
with the evdev property ID_INPUT_TOUCHPAD. A touchpad is considered a
"desktoppy" thing too, hence switches to windowed mode too.

at which points I verified this. While charging tonight, the battery
went gradually up from 20-55%, then instantly jumped to 100%
Battery statistics are jumpy/jittery at times, with sharp drops/jumps in
battery remaining %. Reboot sometimes corrects this. I believe an uneven
battery may be the underlying cause, since it gradually got better.

This is the third bug of this type that has been reported in System
Settings, after bug 1333135 about the "Cellular" screen, and bug 1469076
about the "Time & Date" screen.
In all three cases, someone commented to the effect that "we need to add
a Flickable".

Can someone of those who got it working write a little howto (including

As I just wrote in bug 1470782, this is one of several examples where
System Settings screens have been left accidentally unscrollable. I
suggest that scrollability should be a standard part of every System
Settings screen, not something that needs to be added to each one.

Seems that defaults_read_config(), defaults_get_searchdns() or at least
conf_init() needs to be called before trying conf_get_yesno() in
defaults_get_browse_mode(). Otherwise the config pointer is still NULL
when accessing the hash table indirectly.
