sometimes after I logout there is strange horizontal wrapping/scrolling
corruption at the lightdm login screen plus a fixed vertical wrapping
(see attached video).
After the first time that the screen goes wonky,
I meant to debsum your entire system, not just gparted, as most likely
one of your libraries is corrupt. Valgrind is also complaining about
bad CRCs on a number of libraries, indicating that they are corrupt.

The biggest change in OpenGL for 15.04 is the X11 Sync objects. I'm

I have the same trouble, when I try to open a .rmvb file, totem starts
but immediately crash. The apport daemon has been sending this report
continuously ( and automatically)

No, no other changes are needed on the system. If you have the kernel
command line modified in any way, especially acpi_osi options that might
factor in. What kernel are you running? What OS version? Can you share
your dmesg?
The current 3.19 kernel in 15.04 and BIOS A03 has everything

Laaag's method works for me using a MSI GS60 running Ubuntu 14.10. I
have a working ath10k for Wifi, however Bluetooth does not work still.
I ran the commands exactly as provided which resulted in a 4.1 kernel:
