My personal workaround if I know I am doing something risky in respect
to memory usage is to disable swap. The unresponsiveness than still
kicks in (why is that either?) but the oom killer invents and bring down
the runaway application and restores system usability, or the
application kills itself
Thinking about it, it reminds me Douglas Adams' description of Arthur
Dent ordering a decent cup of tea, thereby rendering the spaceships'
computer busy and unresponsive for space navigation purposes.

screen you are seeing is the lock screen but Unity doesn't have a lock
screen when in guest mode. The lock screen is triggered when you switch
users via the indicator.

The xcb errors are false positives (we cannot check whether a window is
gone and perform our cleanup on them nevertheless - doesn't matter
except for the reported errors).
Overall it sounds like the root problem is a hanging/freezing dbus

Sebastian, I believe that you are experiencing different issue than this
bugzilla entry is about.
I'm experiencing the same symptoms as are described in first comment (Alt+Tab
unfreezes the desktop) and I can confirm, that `export KWIN_USE_BUFFER_AGE=0;`
solves this problem.

okay. removing ~/.cache/ does indeed solve the problem for me as well.
so resolved fixed? with this workaround. or do you want do dig deeper. I
did save my cache-directory in case you're interested.
