Launching xfce4-power-manager-settings from the console is equivalent to
running from the start menu (no suspend options). The only way to get
the full set of options to appear is to launch it through sudo, and then
the power manager warning appears as described in #4 .

at all; it still bounced right back. Note that this kernel is unaware of

Essentially, "service iptables-persistent save" will always attempt to save
both ipv4 and ipv6 rules.
If ipv6 is disabled, aka:
- net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
- net.ipv

It is expected to work, since the lock command is called after the lid

You seem to be using a very old version of Ubuntu and in particular the

radeon driver support DPM.

Because this normally happens after first boot, but not in posterior
ones, I greatly suspect this is a hardware bug.
Probably this is happening because of the GPU passing from a cold state
to a warm state too fast, under graphic demanding operations as watching
videos are.
And Windows users won't

Both fglrx and radeon support dynamic power management so this does not
likely have anything to do with power management. It looks like a plain
old GPU hang. I'd suggest updating your mesa stack in the case of the
open source driver.
