Same issue on a Dell Latitude D6510. In Utopic and Trusty. I have seen
this from more than a half year ago.
If I lock my screen, sometimes there is no password field to unlock it. If I go
back to the terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F1), then that message is showing up.
My solution is to login on the terminal

Public bug reported:
The following bash script will fail randomly on trusty but when tested
on saucy it worked all the time. On the system we test we have kvm
installed and the if statement should evaluate to false and we should
see ten PASS lines and no Error. And this should happen all the time.

Hi Bryan,
Unfortunately, I can make the 1.8.1 works on my laptop. The touchpad
just stop working. I don't like having to hack the driver to make it
works, I'd rather a stable version that can receive update. I will stay
for now with my official 1.7.4 version of synaptics without the buggy
patch.
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but the brightness keys on my asus
TP300LA are not working, even when I boot with the acpi_osi= option. Any
ideas, or links that would help me troubleshoot the issue?
Thanks, Martin
