Most/all of the ubuntu python packages have an egg-info file or
directory (for instance /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/psycopg2-2.4.5
.egg-info). Mapnik doesn't have one, so setuptools doesn't know that the
package is present.

the bug is still present as of today :( And the proposed workaround
doesn't work either, since that get's me an unsolveable dependency to
"libntfs-3g851"
