Similar issue. My "workaround" is when the system starts, hit
CTRL+ALT+F1 to hit the TTY1 ... (see login prompt), then hit
CTRL+ALT+F7, and suddenly X is all running and happy ... not sure why
its not auto-loading anymore since upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04...

It would help to detail exactly which aspect you consider unusable. (I

long-pressing shift enables CAPS mode to type long series of upper-case
letters. Unfortunately, this is gets disabled when switching to

MPlayer 1.1-4.8 detects the frame rate of H264 videos as -nan,
which causes the video to play very rapidly and out of synch with the audio.
The expected result is that the video plays with the correct frame rate in
synch with the audio.
