Happened to me since installing Xubuntu 14.04. I removed the
~/.config/xfce4/ directory, but this didn't help.

Ok, thanks, and yes indeed the fstab entry was missing and I had to use
the device names instead of the UUIDs. Thanks for this helpful comment.

In 13.10 and previous releases, locking the screen would go to the login
screen, and then blank the screen and put the display to sleep. In
14.04, it goes to the login screen, then fades to black, but after that
the screen is replaced with what looks like a corrupted texture b
Can anyone confirm whether that fix did in fact fix the bug?

I think the apparmor issue should be filed as a separate bug. The issue
there is that systemd has mounted / as MS_SHARED, so lxc is having to
remount / as rslave. The apparmor policy will need to be updated to
allow that. Ideally we can wait to allow that until the apparmor parser
properly parse
