Using empathy-accounts, it is possible to add a lync account using
pidgin-sipe plugin. I didn't see any problems, just need to put the
e-mail address into "account" field and click "Connect". Empathy will

Thanks. Yes, Ubuntu appears to output to both (all?) digital inputs

I first noticed this about three weeks ago while scrolling through a
large PDF file via rdesktop; finally located error messages in kern.log
today. Symptom is sudden loss of network connection. Both systems
involved must be shut down, allowed to cool for several minutes, then
ubuntustudio-installer does detect or show errors. This has been fixed
in the latest commits. STDERR is now monitored in the script.

Sorry, false alarm: The version I mentioned (1.4.0-0~49~precise1) was
installed decades ago from a PPA and has the compile date 2012-12-31.
With the standard Ubuntu version it works now.
$ apt-cache policy me-tv:
Installed: 1.4.0-0~49~precise1
Candidate: 1.4.0-0~49~precise1
Version table:

I tried
sudo aptitude install gnome-settings-daemon
and it worked for me.
It uninstalled gnome-compiz and when I executed the same command a second time
everything worked.
Now apt-get upgrade is working again.

As I wrote above, the problems started during the upgrade from 13.10 -->
14.04 but not before the upgrade from kernel 3.11 (as in saucy) to 3.13
(as in trusty). Kernel 3.11 from 13.10 works under 14.04 without
problems!
