1) Uninstall the broadcom driver
2) dowgrade jockey to 0.9.7-0ubuntu7.15
3) Reboot
4) Make sure jockey-backend is not running ("ps aux | grep jockey-
backend"). If it is, make sure to kill it.
5) Type the followin
As I explained in bug 1156566, the session menu is not the only place
that offers restart: Software Updater and Software & Updates settings do
as well, and maybe other places I don't know about. So just removing the
menu item wouldn't solve the problem. The problem is in Unity.

Got hold of one of these machines in this "everything is exploding"
state. Used the below test program to dump out the static variables and
obtain the alignment of the corruption. (This program does not
manipulate this data which eliminates a bug in dpkg as cause.) Note
