I may have found the reason for my particular crash. Now my system boots
normally.
According to the bug report #1006289 at redhat, the bug could come with insmod
diskfilter but someone deactivated that mod and still got the error. I don't
even have this mod declared. But I noticed openSuse loves

The field "Device MAC address" needs to be blank if a new address is
given in "Cloned MAC address" in Network Manager. Otherwise, it won't

Ubuntu 14.04 is great.
The dash is fine for type-launching an application, but not good for
surveying the applications you got. However, the classicmenu-indicator
package addresses this shortcoming.
