Okay, so I am still using KDE with Awesome WM currently, and the bug
occurs there as well. I downloaded the package with `apt-get source` put
the patch in there and uploaded it to my “Stable” PPA, here on
Launchpad. You can get a patched version from there, if you would like

@Andy - this sounds like an environment issue - I have been using
keychain from the outset on Ubuntu with an Upstart session init. Either
.bash_profile is not being sources (Upstart only ever runs code via
/bin/sh), or that script is being sourced, or the variables it sets are
not being injected in
I can avoid this problem by immediatly unmounting the AFP folder from Nautilus,
right after I did what I wanted.
Since I regulary forget to do it, I added a launcher in my launchbar to kill
this processus. I use it almost every day...

I've notice a small improvement in that the hanging is not as much,
however, I got one recently the beginning of the week and it was for
first 7 updates pending which loaded in fine. The next was a notice of
4 more and it then was lost in the loading of the list which required
the eventual ending

Same behaviour observed in installer with 13.10 usb boot media and Sony
Vaio Pro 13 (i7, 8GiB RAM, 128GiB SSD). Booting in UEFI mode, with and
without Secure boot (does not make a difference). LiveUSB runs perfectly
well, have WiFi and all working properly.
