Logs indicate that experimental Xorg packages are the ones causing
issues. You should try enabling the PPA and then using ppa-purge on the

Which kernel are you running? (Please show "uname -a" output)
To figure out whether this is a kernel or qemu problem, it would be
useful to test kvm in a saucy chroot or container. Basically, you would
sudo apt-get -y install lxc
sudo lxc-create -t ubuntu -n s1 -- -r saucy
sudo lxc-start -n s1
I installed today software-properties 0.92.28 and I can confirm that
after changing any of the sources (disabling multiverse, changing mirror
or adding PPA) I get a dialog stating that software sources need to be
refreshed.

You are right, FWIW in Arch Linux there is the kdepim-libkdepim[1] which
includes that library and 20 other libs, which is required by all kdepim
packages.

I am getting basically a check sum error that is reporting back an issue
calculating the size of the install. Bug says it could be because I am
not using authorized version of UBUNTU. I installed via a pen drive
that UBUNTU created.

I got a core dump, and determined that somehow this isn't about the kernel, but
clearly something about the newer kernel
triggers a bug.
In pppd/utils.c, the vslprintf() trips up for a few reasons.
One is that pppd/options.c, print_option() seems to use printer()
with the wrong number of arguments
