/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf was a successful workaround. I modified it,
logged out, and found that Light Display Manager no longer showed up,

I am having the same issue.
Not sure on a cause. At first I thought it was related to the my weather
indicator but I disabled that and the same thing. even when I am just
using email/web brossing atleast a few times per hour it jumps up to
100% and anything using the unity-panel is unusabele.

Not all filters work properly in dash. For example I activate picasa
filter but I don't get any results.

I think I've figured out there's a "gnome screensaver daemon" running,
which acts as a screensaver that blanks the screen (without really
turning it off).
The issue is there is no way to access its settings in System Settings
to disable it.

Finally found a workaround!
* Remove the krandrrc file
cd ~/.kde/share/config/
mv krandrrc krandrrc _bakup
* Comment out nvidia-config resolution lines from /etc/X11/xorg.conf
#Option "nvidiaXineramaInfoOrder" "CRT-0"
#Option "metamodes" "CR

I'd like to second Sergio's problem with the NumLock. Switching layouts
turns numlock off (kind of). More precisely:
The digits except 5 work as arrow/home/etc. keys, but 5 inserts a
literal 5. This is a weird mixture I've never seen before and I can't
see any rationale whatsoever. Pressing Nu

Congratulations, JK! Unfortunately, on my Debian system, the /etc/X11
tree has been improved and "xorg.conf" and "xorg.conf.d" have been
conveniently melded into a different collection of files. I don't want
to go experimenting as I know what happens when the X configuration gets
frummitzed.

You're mistaken. The config files are in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d (only a
handful).

I am sorry! I put this bug in on the saucy package, because I believe
it is what the cloud archive repository is using to provide openstack
packages for precise. I should have been more clear, and I apologize if
