Unfortunately you did a whole lot of things by now. So it is hard to
tell in what state your system is now. If you run
sudo apt-get install -f
does this still complain about the kernel packages? This would be
something to solve first as the nvidia binary module requires those to
compile a driver

app as well similar to other click packages. So it should land in 13.10

Sometimes it happens that when I try to open a video-file, sound just
disappears. After that I need to go to "Sound Settings..." on a top-
panel, move volume slider few times and sound is back then.

Had this happen again. This time the lock screen was showing
notification. This responded to my dragging up, but the password input
was still inaccessible, forcing me to restart GDM.
Is there a way of recovering from this without losing all my open
applications? It seems to relaunch GDM in the cur

After last update from ppa Ctrl+Shift works for me but only in Unity!
I still can not use this shortcut under Gnome 3.8. Simply I can not set this
combination in Gnome as any other without space button.
In Unity I'm available to set Ctrl+Shift R and Ctrl+Shift L for next and
previous layouts but

based on the comment at #7 it almost certainly is going to remain broken
in compiz - however with Mir the input handlers are utterly different so
there might be an opportunity to have Ubuntu work with virtualisation
and remote desktops without grabbing keys from the guest.
