I had the same problems with ndiswrapper. I used Synaptic Package
Manager to remove Ndisrapper-1.57 completely. Then I install version
1.58 from a .tar file. Then after
make uninstall
sudo make
sudo make install
sudo ndiswrappper -i
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
The wireless link then started work

This issue no longer affects me. The problem went away when two changes
were made to the wireless network over the span of about a week. I
don't know which change actually fixed it, but I suspect it was the
second of the two:
One change was updating the firmware on the access points.

Steps to reproduce (don't know if will 100% systematically reproduce or not):
- show desktop with Ctrl+Super+D
- go back to normal with Ctrl+Super+D again
- Maximize a window
- Move the cursor to the left of the screen
=> 1st glitch: launcher should show up. It doesn't. Hence

I think I got this going.
I'm not sure what exactly fixed it. I rebooted the MaaS server (region
controller and cluster controller in this case) and also changed the
nameserver I was using so I wasn't asking an external server that
couldn't reach the private IP of the MaaS DNS server to do recursi
