I hit this while building a raring VM to test out #1174148.
I was able to workaround by using --addpkg linux-image-generic. The
patch above looks like a sensible solution to me though.

Ah, the above issue is LP #1037607, I'll comment there.
If I workaround using --addpkg linux-image-generic, the raring build
works with the proposed python-vm-builder version, so this version looks
good to release in the meantime.

I was referring to the open-source nouveau driver, not the proprietary
NVIDIA driver. I haven't tested either of them though.

Public bug reported:
I've filed this bug against pm-utils as I'm not sure which package is
the root cause of this. My apologies if it's really something else. Feel
free to re-assign in this case.

I have this problem on 13.04 as well. The Photo Lens doesn't register
anything and just keeps searching, and it causes my CPU to run higher
than normal from about 45Celcius to over 75Celcius. As such I'll most
likely just uninstall the lens since I never use it that much.

Ubuntu 11.04 support for Intel "Sandy Bridge" graphics was incomplete.
Better support was available in Ubuntu 11.10, but the graphics
performance (including the Unity 3D desktop) is much better in Ubuntu
12.04, and better again in Ubuntu 12.10.
Official support for Ubuntu 11.04 ended on October 28

This is not a bug in Ubuntu. If you put a library on the system library
directories, you need to expect that it will be used in linker
resolution. There's no way to magically have half your applications
look at one, and the other half another, since linking is done by raw
SONAME, not full path.
