my Xubuntu turns out to be totally unstable, the wifi lost it's connection all
the time, and the mouse freezes as usual. So I'm now on Linux Mint Maya

Not fixed! Using 17.0.5 on Win 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 and copied profile
from Win to Ubuntu. Ubuntu "synchronizing)reloading and reindexing all
my IMAP folders repeatedly. I let updates run to completion overnight,
then first operation on inbox started another reload and reindex of all
IMAP folders. Ha

Hi,
I resolved everything.
The problem for me was the dist-upgrade only.
The kernel 3.8.0-19 amd64 works perfectly on a fresh install.
I reinstalled it when I found a very strange think: nvidia didn't work well
with optimus, intel hd 4000 was unstable, and many strange things.
So I tried reinst

This effects all recent kernels, where $KBUILD/include/linux/version.h has been
moved to $KBUILD/include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h ... it looks like newer
versions have been patched to handle this:
